Join DECA at Lafayette
We'd love to have you. Membership for 2026-27 is open, and you can join at any point this year. Fill out the form below, or come to a meeting first and see what we're all about. We meet every other Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 127, and our next meeting is Monday, September 21.
Sign up for 2026-27
The form asks about your interests, any business or marketing classes you've taken, and what you'd like to bring to the chapter. We read every form, and we'll follow up with you about dues and next steps.
What you get out of it
Compete
Choose from 60 events and see how far you can take yours. We'll help you prepare all year long.
Lead
Run a chapter project, join a vice president's team, apply for an officer role, and maybe even run for state or international office someday.
Meet people who hire
Our judges are working professionals in the industry you're competing in, and so are the business partners we bring in throughout the year.
Get it on paper
DECA scholarships are open to members, and each one has its own requirements and deadline. We keep track of them and let you know when it's time to apply.
Attendance and expectations
We take attendance at every member meeting, and attendance is required. If you can't make a meeting, please let Mr. Hoertz or Mr. Hackman know before it starts.
Being an officer is a real commitment. Officers attend every member meeting and every leadership meeting, have meeting materials ready by the Friday before, reply to advisor messages within 24 hours, and meet every deadline. We ask a lot because DECA rewards the students who show up prepared, and when a busy stretch hits, we'll help our officers find a way to keep up.
Two minutes on what DECA is
About DECA
DECA Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Career and Technical Student Organization with more than 297,000 members in nearly all 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Germany. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
DECA is co-curricular rather than extracurricular: its competitive events are built on the National Curriculum Standards for marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism, and they integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. The program is designed to develop members who are academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible and experienced leaders.
Community service is part of that by design, and each year our officer team selects one community initiative for the whole chapter to support. Lafayette DECA is a proud chapter of Kentucky DECA, the chartered association for the commonwealth.
